Vendor Terms And Conditions
These terms apply to every vendor (“you”) who sells on zknit.ai, operated by Zknit Lifestyle Inc., Ontario, Canada. By opening a Zknit store, you agree to these terms and to our customer-facing Terms & Conditions, Shipping, Return & Refund, and Privacy policies, which you must honour for your buyers.
1. Who can sell
- Independent businesses, designers, boutiques and home-based sellers of South Asian ethnic wear and accessories, based in Canada or the USA.
- You must give Zknit accurate business details and keep them up to date. You are responsible for your own business registration, licences and taxes where you operate.
- We may verify your identity or business before activating or continuing your store.
2. What you can sell
Allowed: desi ethnic apparel and accessories for women, men and kids — sarees, lehengas, salwar suits, kurtas, sherwanis, blouses, jewellery, juttis, clutches and similar items.
Not allowed:
- counterfeit, replica or “inspired by” copies of other designers’ work;
- items that infringe anyone’s trademark, copyright or design rights;
- items that are illegal to sell in Canada or the USA;
- listings that don’t offer a physical item for sale (ads, referral codes, fundraising);
- your own gift cards or vouchers.
We may remove any listing that breaks these rules.
3. Listing requirements
Every listing must be accurate and complete. Include:
- Title: colour, fabric and product type, e.g., “Hot Pink Banarasi Silk Saree with Zari Motifs”.
- Description: fabric, work (zari, embroidery, print), what’s included, size or measurements, care instructions and suitable occasions. For sarees, also give the length, blouse details (included or not, stitched or unstitched, sizes) and whether fall and pico are done.
- Country of origin: where the item was made. This goes on shipping and customs documents and must be correct.
- Delivery time: “Ready to ship” (dispatched within 2 business days) or “Made to order” with the real production time.
- Price: in CAD, final and inclusive of all duties. Sale prices must be real reductions from a price you actually charged.
- Makers and partners: if a production partner, designer or artisan made the item or holds rights to the design, name them in the listing.
Photos and videos:
- Every listing needs at least one real photo of the actual item, taken by you or with your permission. No stock photos, and no photos copied from other sellers or websites.
- AI-illustrated images are allowed only alongside real photos, must be labelled “AI-illustrated”, and must show the item’s colour, design and work accurately. Jewellery or accessories shown but not included must be noted in the description.
- A short video of the item in daylight is strongly recommended. It is the single biggest thing that helps an item sell.
- You must own or have the rights to every image and video you upload.
4. Orders and shipping
- Dispatch on time: ship ready-to-ship items within 2 business days of the order, and made-to-order items within the time stated on the listing.
- Use the shipping label provided by Zknit (or the method Zknit specifies) so every order has tracking.
- Pack items securely so they arrive undamaged, folded neatly, with all parts listed in the description.
- No direct contact details in the parcel: do not include phone numbers, emails, social media handles, QR codes, website links, business cards or vouchers for buying from you outside Zknit.
- If you can’t fulfil an order, tell Zknit immediately and cancel it. The buyer is refunded in full, and Zknit’s commission on that order is still charged to you.
- If an order will be late for any reason, tell Zknit before the dispatch deadline.
5. Returns, refunds and exchanges
Buyers can request a return if an item arrives damaged, is not as described, or arrives more than 15 days after the latest estimated delivery date. Buyers report the problem to Zknit within 48 hours of delivery, with a video. Zknit reviews the case with you and decides within 3 business days. Zknit’s decision is final.
If a return is approved:
- Zknit sends the buyer a prepaid return label.
- When you receive the item, confirm within 2 business days that it arrived in the condition it was sent.
- Zknit then gives the buyer a replacement (if you can send one) or a full refund.
You are charged:
- the return shipping cost;
- the replacement’s shipping cost, if a replacement is sent;
- on a refund, Zknit’s commission on the original sale, and the payment processing fee on the original sale — these are not returned to you.
Exchanges: you can choose to offer exchanges for items in your own store; state this in your Store Policies. Respond to an exchange request within 3 business days. The buyer pays shipping both ways, and Zknit issues the coupon or store credit once you confirm you received the original item.
6. Fees and payouts
| Fee | Amount |
|---|---|
| Monthly subscription | $0 for early vendors |
| Commission | 12.5% of the sale value |
| Payment processing | 4% of the sale value |
Applicable GST/HST or sales tax is added to all fees.
Payouts: Your earnings, minus fees, become available to your Stripe account immediately on order completion. The money takes 2-3 days to get deposited to your bank account. Request a withdrawal from your vendor dashboard; payments are sent by Stripe within 2-3 business days.
We give you at least 30 days’ notice before changing any fee.
7. Promotions
Zknit runs site-wide promotions, such as the Festive Sale. Those promotions are sponsored primarily by the platform, but vendors can choose to participate in the promotion by bearing a portion of the promotions. Discounts you create yourself are funded by you.
8. Communicating with buyers
- Communicate with buyers only through Zknit: vendor messages, support tickets, or through the Zknit team.
- Reply to buyer and Zknit messages within 24 hours.
- Do not ask buyers for, or share, phone numbers, emails, social media handles or payment details, and never offer to sell outside Zknit. Every sale must go through Zknit checkout.
- Treat buyers and other vendors with respect. Harassment, threats, discrimination and spam are not allowed.
9. Reviews
Buyers can review your items within 30 days of delivery. You may reply to a review politely and factually. You may not:
- post reviews of your own items, or ask friends or family to;
- offer discounts or gifts in exchange for positive reviews;
- buy from another vendor to leave a negative review, or interfere with another vendor’s store in any way.
10. Buyer information and privacy
You receive buyers’ names, addresses and phone numbers only to fulfil their orders. You must:
- use this information only to ship and support that order;
- not add buyers to your own mailing lists or marketing, or contact them outside Zknit;
- keep it secure and delete it when it is no longer needed for the order or for tax records;
- tell Zknit immediately if buyer information is lost or exposed.
You are responsible for complying with Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA) and any other privacy laws that apply to your business.
11. Intellectual property and responsibility
- You are responsible for your listings, photos, products, labels and any information you give to Zknit, carriers or customs.
- You confirm that you have the right to sell every item you list and to use every image and description.
- If a claim is made against Zknit because of your products, listings or conduct (for example, copyright infringement or a product safety issue), you agree to cover Zknit’s resulting costs, including reasonable legal fees.
12. Store performance and account actions
To protect buyers, we may limit your listings’ visibility, hold payouts, suspend or close your store if you:
- repeatedly ship late, cancel orders or fail to respond to messages;
- have a high rate of approved returns;
- break these terms, sell prohibited items or try to move sales off Zknit.
Where the law allows, we will tell you why and give you a chance to fix the problem first. Any fees and return costs you owe remain payable after suspension.
13. Changes and governing law
We may update these terms and will notify you by email at least 30 days before changes take effect. These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and Canada.
